Financial Aid

Continuing Education offers programs that qualify for:

Continuing Education credit courses are not eligible for College Opportunity Fund (COF) funding. Credit earned through Continuing Education courses will not be counted toward the 145 lifetime hour maximum for COF.

Additional forms of financial aid can be found at various banks and lending institutions. Citibank is the lender of choice due to the restrictive processing requirements for Continuing Education programs. They will make the check single payable to CSU so that the amount may be credited directly to your student account.

Federal Financial Aid

Eligibility

Financial aid is available to United States citizens and eligible non-citizens. To be eligible for financial aid, you must be admitted to Colorado State in a degree-seeking program and be enrolled in at least 6 credits per semester (undergraduate) or at least 5 credits per semester (graduate). You may use federal and/or state aid, however, institutional aid will not be considered.

Undergraduates will be considered for grants and loans; graduates will be considered for loans. If you are awarded a Pell Grant, you must complete 50% of your coursework before you can receive your Pell Grant. If you are awarded a Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG), you must submit your first completed lesson before you can receive your SEOG. If awarded a Pell or SEOG Grant, courses must be completed by the last day of the semester. If courses are not completed, it will result in an adjustment to your financial aid.

Apply for Financial Aid

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Once you have been accepted to CSU and enrolled in your courses, a Student Financial Services representative will adjust your financial aid award to reflect the cost of your program.

To check the status of your financial aid application, visit RamWeb and click "Current Financial Aid Awards." There you can review where you are in the financial aid process, view your current award notice, accept/decline your loan(s), and complete other processing requirements.

Disbursement and Payment

Financial aid disbursements are made early in the semester. Students must be registered and all paperwork must be completed before financial aid is disbursed. This process takes at least three weeks.

Any financial aid recipient who registers agrees to pay the University according to the payment terms (found in the General Catalog under the Payment of Student Accounts section). Late charges of 1.5% per month and other penalties may be assessed for late payments.

Scholarships

Students registering for Continuing Education courses may be eligible for the following scholarships:

Review the application for requirements and deadlines. A new application is required for each semester.

You may be able to use an existing Colorado State scholarship. Contact Student Financial Services to verify your eligibility.

Each year, many scholarships go unused because students are unaware of their availability. We recommend you research the abundance of scholarships and your fit with their requirements.

Tuition Assistance Plans (TAP)

Many employers provide some form of tuition assistance plan (TAP). Contact your employer's Benefits or Education office for more information.

The Employer Tuition Assistance Form must be completed by you and your employer or sponsor and submitted with your registration. Your employer must indicate they will provide tuition assistance or reimbursement for your education. The amount your employer provides will be assessed as a resource in addition to financial aid.
