Admission and Application
Before applying to the degree program, it is strongly recommended that you contact the program coordinator well in advance of the application deadline to understand and fulfill all requirements.

Minimum Admission Requirements
The Statistics (M.S.) degree requires applicants to have the following, at a minimum:
- Four year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university.
- Completion of STAT 520 or comparable course prior to application preferred, but not required.
- If you have not completed STAT 520 or a comparable course prior to application, your application will be evaluated based on overall GPA, plus grades attained in Calculus I, II, and III, Advanced Calculus, and Linear Algebra.
- GRE test scores are not required.
Please note that meeting the minimum department standards does not ensure admission to the program. Admission to Colorado State University graduate programs is based on a number of factors, including prior academic and professional experience and the personal statement.
Before your application for graduate study is considered, all application materials must be received by the department.
Step 1 – Apply Online
- Complete the online
graduate application form and pay the $50 application
fee (payable online with a major credit card).
- Select “Statistics MS – Distance” when choosing the Program of Study.
Step 2 – Submit Application Materials
Gather all of the following materials and submit to the Statistics Department in one complete packet:
- Personal Statement
Summarize your long term professional and educational goals and how graduate studies will contribute to both. - Three Letters of Recommendation and Forms
Request that three letters of recommendation be sent to the Statistics Department. Please include these in your mailing, and do not fax letters. Letters need to be on hard copy stationary with original signature and on letterhead stationary of the institution or business, when relevant. Keep in mind that letters from friends, co-workers, and/or relatives will be considered only as supplements to the required three letters. - Official Transcripts
Include two official transcripts of all collegiate work completed from every institution attended, whether or not you received a degree from those institutions. Transcripts from Colorado State University are not required.
International Applicants Only
Include the following items in addition to those listed above:

Ensure official copies include a certified translation into English (only one set of transcripts is required). - Official TOEFL Scores
Submit official TOEFL scores through the Educational Testing Service (select institution code: 4075).IIn general, all applicants from countries in which English is not the official language, and who do not have an undergraduate degree from a country in which the official language is English (Canada, U.K., Australia, USA, New Zealand, etc.) must submit TOEFL scores. The minimum score for applicants is 550 (213 on the computer-based test). The TOEFL may be waived for applicants who have been working in the United States for several years. Submit the GS3-F Form to show evidence of adequate financial support as required before an immigration document can be issued by Colorado State University.
Any materials that cannot be submitted online should be sent to the address as below. When communicating with the Department and/or with the Graduate School, be sure to specify that you wish to pursue the M.S. degree in Statistics by distance.

Students may be admitted for fall, spring, or summer semesters. Please note that this program accepts applications year-round, and that the deadlines listed below should serve as general guidelines and not firm cut-off dates. As a general rule, the Statistics program accepts completed application folders no less than one month prior to the beginning of the semester for which you are applying.

What You Will Earn
You will earn the same regionally accredited Colorado State University degree that a student on the Fort Collins campus is awarded. Your diploma and transcript are identical to those given to on-campus students.
