Admission and Application
Before applying to the degree program, it is strongly recommended that you contact the program coordinator well in advance of the application deadline to understand and fulfill all requirements.

Minimum Admission Requirements
The Industrial/Organizational Pyschology (MAIOP) degree requires applicants to have the following:
- A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- A 3.0 GPA on all undergraduate course work.
- A grade of B or higher for an undergraduate course in industrial psychology, organizational psychology, human resource management (business), or organizational behavior (business).
- A grade of B or higher for an undergraduate course in statistics.
- GRE test scores are required. The GRE General Test and Psychology Subject Test scores are both required.
Please note that meeting the minimum department standards does not ensure admission to the program. Admission to Colorado State University graduate programs is based on a number of factors, including prior academic and professional experience and the personal statement.
Before your application for graduate study is considered, all application materials must be received by the department.
Step 1 – Apply Online
- Complete the online
graduate application form and pay the $50 application
fee (payable online with a major credit card).
- Select “Psychology – Applied Industrial/Organizational Psychology MAIOP – Distance” when choosing the Program of Study.
Step 2 – Submit Application Materials
Gather all of the following materials and submit to the Department of Psychology in one complete packet:
- Résumé or Vita
Indicate your education, training, and work experience - Statement of Purpose
The statement of purpose should describe:- How you became interested in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
- What you want to gain from our graduate program.
- Why you are interested in pursuing a career in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
- Writing Sample
The writing sample should include a sample of your scientific writing ability such as a senior honors thesis, term paper from a psychology course, laboratory report from an experimental course, or some similar material. - Three Letters of Recommendation
Ask three persons listed on the application form to write letters of recommendation concerning your abilities and potential for graduate study.- All applicants should have letters written on letterhead by professors or other professionals with whom you have worked recently or who know you well.
- All letters should clearly refer to both your first and last names.
- Where possible, references should be given directly to you in a sealed letterhead envelope with their signatures across the sealed flap so that you may enclose them with your other materials. Specific forms for reference letters are not used.
- Official Transcripts
Include two official transcripts of all collegiate work completed from every institution attended, whether or not you received a degree from those institutions.Transcripts from Colorado State University are not required.- Please indicate the average GPA for the last 60 semester or 90 quarter credit hours. Do not count pass/fail courses.
- Where possible, have the institutions furnish official transcripts in sealed envelopes to enclose with the other supporting documents.
- Important: If the last name on the transcript is different than the current last name, e.g., due to marriage, please notify the department so the records can be matched on file.
- GRE Test Scores
As soon as you receive your score from the Educational Testing Service, send a photocopy to the Department of Psychology. Be sure the photocopy shows your name and address and scores from all previous test dates. The highest possible scores for each test are used, even if taken on different test dates.
International Applicants Only
Include the following items in addition to those listed above:
- Official Transcripts
Ensure official copies include a certified translation into English (only one set of transcripts is required). - Official TOEFL Scores
Submit official TOEFL scores through the Educational Testing Service (select institution code: 4075).In general, all applicants from countries in which English is not the official language, and who do not have an undergraduate degree from a country in which the official language is English (Canada, U.K., Australia, USA, New Zealand, etc.) must submit TOEFL scores. The minimum score for applicants is 550 (213 on the computer-based test).
Any materials that cannot be submitted online should be sent to the Department of Psychology address as below.

Once the Department of Psychology receives a complete application, the admissions committee reviews the application and promptly notifies the applicant of their decision.

Students may be admitted for the fall semester. Summer or spring admission is not available.

Delivery
Online. On-campus attendance is not required to complete this program.
Total Credits
38 credits. This is a course work-only program and does not require completion of a thesis.
Tuition
$619 per credit. Books and statistical software are not included in tuition. (financial aid available)
Time Frame
This degree can be completed in two years. Summer courses are required to complete this program.
Apply by April 1st for the Fall 2010 semester. You do not need to be admitted to register for Fall 2009 or Spring 2010 courses.
