Human Development and Family Studies

There are many benefits to the HDFS online program at CSU. These courses allow me to balance being a mom to two sons, a Head Start teacher, and a college student. I feel the courses are well paced and organized for students with busy lifestyles!

I chose to take classes through CSU Continuing Education because I loved the idea that there is particular support from mentors for Head Start teachers who would like to further their education and career.

I have been active duty military for almost 9 years and have attended 5 different universities. It has always been my dream of one day receiving my bachelor's degree and now that I am stationed at Colorado State University I can finally see myself achieving that goal. With a husband and son at home, the online aspect of the Human Development and Family Studies degree completion program through Continuing Education really excited me because I know I can finish my degree from CSU no matter where my next assignment may be.

I am grateful this program was developed because it allowed me to continue to work full-time and become a director of an early childhood education program. One of my favorite aspects of the courses in the HDFS program, is the ease with which I am able to navigate the website. The due dates, exams, and activities are easy to locate and have clear instructions and expectations. The courses are not self-paced which encourages me to utilize and improve my organization skills, set goals for myself, and feel a great sense of satisfaction upon the successful completion each semester online. I also enjoy getting more acquainted with classmates through the group discussions and group assignment opportunities. This way, I still feel extremely connected with my classmates and professors.
