The Bachelor of Science in fire and emergency services administration (FESA) at Colorado State University provides you with the skills and knowledge to perform administrative and managerial duties in fire and allied emergency service organizations. This degree gives you the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree and to advance your career.

Fire and Emergency Services Administration

You will learn administrative, management, and leadership skills, as well as the evolving requirements of emergency services. This degree completion program is designed to aid in career advancement within fire and allied emergency service organizations. You will explore key administrative areas such as personnel administration, financial management, emergency management, and program evaluation. During this degree, you will demonstrate your ability to:

  • Effectively integrate academic knowledge into fire and emergency service administrative and managerial roles within current and future employment situations.
  • Collaborate with peers to solve fire and emergency service organizational problems.
  • Apply your knowledge, skills, and competencies to fire and emergency service organizations.

The fire and emergency services have a long and proud history of serving communities with a wide variety of fire protection, fire prevention, emergency medical, and emergency preparedness services. The administrators of the future need advanced administrative, management, and leadership skills to address the evolving requirements of emergency services. This program is ideal for you if you want to increase your administrative and management skills.

Degree at a Glance

Delivery

DVD and online. Courses use a combination of DVD lectures supported by online resources. On-campus attendance is not required to complete this program.

Total Credits

120 credits (a minimum of 60 credits must be transferred into the program).

Tuition

$280 per credit. All courses require the purchase of textbooks. Some courses require the purchase of a DVD lecture set.

Time Frame

Can be completed in two years; most students require three to four years. Most FESA students are currently employed professionals who take an average of two courses per semester. The program completion time is heavily influenced by the number of transfer credits so students are encouraged to take advantage of all opportunities for transfer credit.

Fire and emergency services professionals looking to advance their careers with increased administrative, management, and leadership skills.

Typical students are currently employed as career or volunteer firefighters, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, fire/building inspectors or trainers.

What You Will Earn

You will earn the same regionally accredited Colorado State University degree that a student on the Fort Collins campus is awarded. Your diploma and transcript are identical to those given to on-campus students.
