Admission and Application
The FESA program is a 2+2 degree completion program designed for students who have completed at least 60 semester hours of transferable college credit with a GPA of 2.0 (2.5 or higher preferred). Although this program works particularly well for students who have completed an Associate’s Degree in fire science or a related emergency services field, an Associate's Degree is not required for admittance to the program.
You must also meet the admission requirement in mathematics with one of the following four options:
- Transferable mathematics course (e.g., College Algebra) with a grade of "C-" or higher.
- Intermediate Algebra course with a grade of "B-" or higher.
- Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II with grades of "C" or higher while in high school.
- Successful results on the CSU Mathematics Placement Exam (MPE).
How To Apply
- Contact Kelli Heenan (information listed on the left of this page) for more information as well as an eligibility and transfer evaluation. Download the check sheet to assist with this process.
- You will be contacted to make an appointment to meet with an advisor, by phone or in person, to discuss your initial plan of study and current placement in the program.
- After the transfer evaluation is complete, apply to the University. Learn how to apply »
- Once admitted to the program, you will receive a new admit packet containing a curriculum plan. Contact Kelli Heenan (information listed on the left of this page) to verify your first semester's courses.
Transfer Credits
You can transfer a maximum of 64 credits from accredited community colleges or similar two-year institutions. Additional upper-division credits are also eligible for transfer consideration if they are from accredited four-year institutions. In some cases, credit from military, fire, and emergency service training may be transferred if that training carries a credit recommendation from the American Council on Education (ACE).

Fire and emergency services professionals looking to advance their careers with increased administrative, management, and leadership skills.
Typical students are currently employed as career or volunteer firefighters, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, fire/building inspectors or trainers.
