The Learning Experience

The program delivery system is predominantly distance, with on-campus, summer, and condensed course work and advising. The program operates within a cohort model and accepts applications once a year. You will be required to travel to Fort Collins for a 8-9 day extended week in July each year and two days in January preceding the beginning of the spring semester. The six hours of course work during both the fall and spring semesters will be via online and telecommunication delivery. A great benefit of this degree is that you will be ready to publish after the 30 credits of research that is completed with the program.

The program is designed to be completed in four or five years while you remain employed full-time at an institution of higher education. Keep in mind that this distance program still requires the same amount of work and time as an on-campus program. It is recommended to allow nine to twelve hours per week for a three-credit course. This will vary depending on your learning and studying style.

Your interactions with the faculty depend on the specific course, but online and distance courses do provide you with online office hours, email contact information as well as discussion board postings. All class assignments and projects are designed to be applied immediately to your professional challenges and personal goals.
