Degree Overview

The Community College Leadership (CCL) Ph.D. is designed to meet the needs of individuals interested in presidential roles and other leadership positions at community colleges and higher education institutions. The CCL degree offers you the opportunity to improve your practice if you are currently serving in a leadership position. If you are seeking a leadership position in secondary education institutions, this doctoral degree program offers you the opportunity to develop the cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal skills required for success in such appointments.

This program is applicable to all higher education settings, but has a specific focus on community colleges. The course work in this degree will teach you about policies, legal aspects, running cabinets, and leadership training.

The faculty throughout this degree are former Community College administrators and presidents. The course work was developed and is taught by this faculty, which allows you to learn real issues and solutions from individuals that have experienced it first-hand. You will be learning from people that have strong background knowledge in this field.

The objectives of the Community College Leadership degree are:

Delivery

Online, on-campus, and audio conferencing. One on-campus visit per fall and spring semester is required to complete the program.

Time Frame

This program can be completed in four or five years, though students typically complete the degree in five and one-half to six and one-half years. As a cohort program, the same group of students begins, proceeds through, and completes the program together. The next cohort begins Fall 2010.

What You Will Earn

You will earn the same regionally accredited Colorado State University degree that a student on the Fort Collins campus is awarded. Your diploma and transcript are identical to those given to on-campus students.
