Civil EngineeringMaster of Engineering
This Civil Engineering program is focused on enhancing the expertise of working professionals. Engineers who want to further their careers with industrial firms and governmental agencies or those who want to pursue a career in private practice should consider this degree.
Program Requirements
Students must successfully complete a minimum of 30 credits, including a minimum of 15 credits in civil engineering (CIVE) courses.
- Appropriate prerequisites for required courses under a selected track must be completed. Prerequisites will be enforced.
- No independent study credits will count toward graduation.
- At least 21 credits must be earned after formal admission.
- At least 24 credits of 500 level or above must be earned at Colorado State University.
- A thesis or project paper is not required.
- Student's program of study must be approved by advisor but a graduate committee is not required.
- A final examination is not required.

- CIVE 522 - Engineering Hydrology (3 cr.)
- CIVE 544 - Water Resources Planning and Management (3 cr.)
- CIVE 545 - Management and Monitoring of Water Quality (3 cr.)
- CIVE 546 - Water Resource Systems Analysis (3 cr.)
- CIVE 547 - Statistics of Environmental Monitoring (3 cr.)
- CIVE 578 - Infrastructure Management and Security (3 cr.)
- ENGR 510 - Linear Programming and Network Flows (3 cr.)
- ENGR 610 - Engineering Decision Support/Expert Systems (3 cr.)
Courses will become web-based in the future, and other courses may be added.
Application and Admission Requirements
This program follows the general admission requirements and procedures with the following adaptations:
- A B.S. degree in engineering is required (no exceptions allowed).
- GRE scores are not required.

Delivery
Most courses use videotape sets and some are delivered online. On-campus attendance is not required to complete this program.

$520 per credit
Time Frame
Can be completed in three to four years. Program duration may vary based on previous course work, intensity of study, and course availability. Most students enroll in one course per semester. Summer courses are not required.
