Before applying to the degree program, it is strongly recommended that you contact the program coordinator well in advance of the application deadline to understand and fulfill all requirements.

Minimum Admission Requirements
The Adult Education & Training (M.Ed.) degree requires applicants to have the following:
- A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Applicants whose GPA is lower than 3.0 must demonstrate their
potential for academic success by providing additional evidence such as:
- Additional letters of reference indicating strong potential for successfully completing the master's program.
- 5 years of relevant work experience shown on a resume.
- Completion of six credits of graduate level classes after the bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- GRE scores are not required.
Please note that meeting the minimum department standards does not ensure admission to the program. Admission to Colorado State University graduate programs is based on a number of factors, including prior academic and professional experience and the personal statement.
Before your application for graduate study is considered, all application materials must be received by the department.
Step 1 – Apply Online
- Complete the online graduate application form and pay the $50 application fee (payable online with a major credit card).
- Select “Educ & Human Resource Studies (School of Ed) MED - Distance” when choosing the Program of Study.
Step 2 – Submit Application Materials
Gather all of the following materials and submit to the School of Education in one complete packet or email them to Neda Amidon:
- Statement of Purpose
Include in your statement:- Reasons for seeking the specialization;
- Your views of learning as an adult;
- What you bring to our community of learners;
- A summary of your long-term professional, educational or personal goals;
- Your professional commitment to your field of study;
- How the program will meet your goals;
- Your expectations for the program; and
- The factors that led you to consider Colorado State University for graduate study.
- Three Letters of Recommendation
Letters from people who are able to speak to your current or potential instructional abilities should be sent in sealed envelopes to the department or emailed to Neda Amidon. - Official Transcripts
Include two official transcripts of all collegiate work completed from every institution attended, whether or not you received a degree from those institutions. Typically institutions cannot send electronic transcripts, these may have to be mailed in order to be official. Transcripts from Colorado State University are not required. - Current Resume
Show dates and job duties of all professional employment.

Ensure official copies include a certified translation into English (only one set of transcripts is required). - Official TOEFL Scores
Submit official TOEFL scores through the Educational Testing Service (select institution code: 4075).In general, all applicants from countries in which English is not the official language, and who do not have an undergraduate degree from a country in which the official language is English (Canada, U.K., Australia, USA, New Zealand, etc.) must submit TOEFL scores. The minimum score for applicants is 550 (213 on the computer-based test).

Online. There may also be videos, CD-ROMs, or DVDs that will be used to supplement the online content and activities.
On-campus attendance is an option, but is not required to complete this program.
We also offer a Denver-based Adult Education and Training (AET) degree.

Time Frame
Can be completed in a minimum of 16 months, including summer terms. Program duration may vary based on previous course work, intensity of study, and course availability.
Currently you can be admitted for Summer or Fall 2010 start.
Designed For
Those who wish to facilitate adult learning activities including instructors and program developers in proprietary schools, business and industry training departments, community colleges, consulting, entrepreneurial possibilities, or as preparation for a Ph.D. program.
What You Will Earn
You will earn the same regionally accredited Colorado State University degree that a student on the Fort Collins campus is awarded. Your diploma and transcript are identical to those given to on-campus students.
