Prerequisite
SOCR 201 (Seed Development and Metabolism) or written consent of the instructor.
Description
This course introduces germination and other seed viability testing. Students become familiar with the source of the germination working sample, the AOSA rules for performing the standard germination test, planting the test, evaluating the seedlings, and reporting the results.
Six proctored exams are required.
This course will prepare those interested in the Seed Analysis Training profession for the AOSA or SCST certification examinations.

Jack Fenwick, Ph.D. is a faculty member in the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences at Colorado State University. He teaches the introductory course in crop production and management which includes plant and seed identification. He also teaches advanced courses in crop production. Dr. Fenwick has received the Outstanding Teaching Award from the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences and the College of Agricultural Sciences, and the Outstanding Advising Award from the College and the University.
