OSHR 1425 - Shakespeare for All: Appreciation of His Plays (Short Course)

Noncredit / Spring 2008 NEW

Delivery/Location: Off-Campus

This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.

Have you ever wished you could understand Shakespeare?s works well enough to truly appreciate what is being offered at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival (held in Boulder) each summer? Then this is your chance! This 4-week course will help you develop insight into three plays that will be showcased during the summer 2008 festival:

  • Macbeth;
  • Love?s Labours Lost;
  • Henry VIII.

The focus will be on the plays, rather than on the playwright. You will learn how to analyze various scenes and appreciate Shakespeare?s talent. Scene analysis will be based on viewing portions of various productions (on DVD) or on class readings.

Note: While attendance at the Festival is not built into this course, participants will be provided with information about the summer?s productions so that many may choose to go on their own.

Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
