This course is offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. You must be a member of Osher to enroll in this course.
This one-session mini-course will examine how the law affects, constrains, and determines American elections. Discussion will include topics such as:
- campaign finance reform,
- the Electoral College system,
- freedom of speech and assembly, and
- related topics (at either the local or national level) of interest to the group.
Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
Instructors
Mark Shaffer is a Loveland attorney and expert in election law.
Donna Aurand is the Deputy General Counsel in the Office of General Counsel for the Colorado State University System. She has practiced law for 15 years, the last ten of which have been for CSU. She handles a wide variety of issues, but specializes in research contracts and real estate transactions. Donna received her B.A. in political science from CSU and her law degree from the University of Denver.
