OSHR 1130 - Five Plants and A Fish That Changed World History (Short Course)

Most people, if they think of plants at all, regard them as edible (as a food source), bothersome (as weeds) or as problematic (due to allergies or poisonous properties). Howeve - new travel routes were discovered, economies went into boom and bust cycles, social structures shifted, illnesses ameliorated, and more. Join us in this seven-session short course to discover how tea, cotton, sugarcane, quinine, potatoes and cod have changed lives - and history!

Robert Zimdahl, Ph.D., one of the founders of the CSU Senior Scholars' program, is a retired professor of Weed Science in the Department of Bioagricultural Sciences and Pest Management.

Dr. Zimdahl also served as Editor of the professional journal entitled Weed Science for over a decade and has been an integral part of International programs at Colorado State University. He has been given many awards by various entities that have recognized his teaching, research and service contributions.
