Delivery/Location: Correspondence

Prerequisite

Graduate student or senior status; one course in human dimensions; one course in science.

Description

In this course, students obtain resources from readings and Internet resources for an overview of tools that can and should apply to sustainability issues. They review sustainability issues and integrate learning to develop solutions considering environments; economics; psychology; sociology; law and politics; and administration along with partners in the community.

Students will identify a problem locally, document the existing situation, then recommend intervention strategies after completing readings, reviewing Internet resources and other sources, and from understanding procedures for the final course product. Their work with the cooperators is designed to effect changes in behaviors.

The final written report is expected to be comprehensive, well documented, and written with action strategies that will be shared with cooperating partners in the community who are affected by the work.
