HDFS 375 - Programming for Children and Families

HDFS 286 (Practicum-Professional Skills) or concurrent registration HDFS 310 (Infant and Child Development in Context) or PSY 260 (Child Psychology).

Description

HDFS 375 addresses prevention and intervention programs for children and families, with a focus on children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disabilities, and healthy parent-child attachment. Development in each of these populations is explored, and specific intervention strategies are described. Second language development, and implications for teachers/interventionists is emphasized in this course. This course includes three exams, one short essay, online discussion, and two short reflections on films used in the course.
