Description
This ergonomics course has been designed for those students who wish to study the ergonomics of the office environment including:
- Epidemiology of cumulative trauma disorders
- Dynamics of the office environment
- Upper extremity anatomy and physiology
- Risk factors for cumulative trauma injury
- Static postures and work habits
- Cumulative trauma disorders
- Office equipment and workspace design factors
- Ergonomic evaluation of computer workstations
- Employee health and training
- Ergonomic prevention for cumulative trauma disorders
The course prepares students at the "entry-level" in ergonomics theory and practice. It teaches about the modern office environment, using computers safely, cumulative trauma disorders, and provides an opportunity to develop skills for anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of ergonomic hazards unique to the office workplace aimed at preventing cumulative trauma disorders.
This course can be applied towards the:

David Gilkey D.C. PhD, is a Certified Professional Ergonomist. He is Assistant Professor and Director of Undergraduate Education in the Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences at CSU. David is a skilled health practitioner with both a theoretical and practical knowledge base around workplace ergonomics. His areas of interest are diverse and include environmental and occupational human health, complimentary and alternative human health, construction safety and ergonomics, back pain and musculoskeletal pain syndromes among workers.
