EDAE 590 - Workshop: Teaching and Learning at a Distance

3 Credits / Spring 2010

Delivery/Location: Online

The focus of this course will be twofold. The first emphasis will be on the technologies available for distance delivery. Examples include investigation of learning management systems, interactive video, audio, and other products on the market. We will investigate the various technologies and discuss the skills, technical experience, and expense for each of them. We will experience different technologies as time permits.

Students may sign up for 1-3 credits.

The second and primary emphasis will be directed toward methods for generating and maintaining communication, designing and developing materials, incorporating interactive and collaborative learning activities, and methods for assessing learning.

This will be a discussion and project based course where students will be required to participate in online discussion with their peers and will research various components of distance learning. The final project for the course will be the story board for development of a course to be taught at a distance.
