Karen Hyllegard is an associate professor in the Department of Design and Merchandising at Colorado State University. She received her B.A. degree from William Smith College, M.A. degree from Oregon State University, and Ph.D. degree from University of Maryland. Dr. Hyllegard's teaching emphases are in the areas of merchandising promotion; retail design; and textile and apparel industries. Research emphases include merchandising and retailing; advertising and promotion; social responsibility; and retail/store design.

Among other awards, Dr. Hylleagard received CSU's Jack E. Cermak Advising Award in 2007.
