CS 470 - Computer Architecture

Prerequisite

CS 370 (System Architecture and Software).

Description

Instruction sets; control unit: hardwired and microprogramming; memory systems; computer arithmetic; I/O and bus control; performance evaluation; pipelining; RISC processors.

Software & Hardware Requirements: Access to the Internet using Netscape 4x (6x is not acceptable) or Internet Explorer 5x (4x is not acceptable). Adobe Acrobat Reader 4x. Ability to access the CS department computers remotely.

Dr. Schauble received an Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Mount Holyoke College in 1966, with a minor in Music; a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida in 1978; a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado in 1988 and 1994 respectively.

Dr. Schauble has worked in numerous and sundry positions in the field of computer science, including insurance data processing, scientific programming, operating systems, and computer performance. Among her past employers are Aetna Life Insurance Company, Long Island University in Brooklyn, the Institute of Computer Science of the University of London, and IBM. She previously taught computer science courses at the New School for Social Research, the University of Florida, the University of Colorado, and the Colorado School of Mines.

Her research interests include the development of Web-based educational tools, computer architecture, operating systems, and networking. She is a longtime member of ACM and senior member of IEEE.
