BSLL 1072 - Presentation & Speech Coaching

Noncredit / Fall 2009

Delivery/Location: Loveland

Public speaking is tough! Even in a web-based world with e-commerce at every turn we still need "face time" for persuading, calming, and motivating others as we sell our ideas, products and services. Everyone improves with a bit of speech coaching. This course is heavy on participation. Each attendee is video-taped 8-12 times during the day. Results emerge through self-critique, group feedback, and instructor coaching.

Learning Modules:

  • Studying the Audience
  • Preparing the Talk
  • Rehearsal Techniques
  • Handling Nervousness
  • Using Gestures & Props
  • Dealing with Difficult & Hostile Questions
  • Impromptu Speaking
  • Non-verbal Images
  • Immediate Visual Feedback
  • Personal Video-Tape

Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.
