Basic jewelry skills required: sawing, soldering, and forming.
Description
This course introduces techniques of forming and fabrication that result in the creation of an original hollow-constructed ring. The ring will be fully enclosed, and can also be designed to function as a container or vessel. Students are asked to break out of the square or cylindrical format to construct a ring with a more unique shape. Development of advanced soldering and forming skills are emphasized in this course.
Tools and materials must be provided by the student. Basic tools are available for check-out.
Noncredit courses do not produce academic credit nor appear on a Colorado State University academic transcript.

Amber Drake grew up on a small farm in Townville, Pennsylvania and began her studies at Edinboro University in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, in 2001 where she studied art, achieving a B.F.A. in metalsmithing and a BS in art history in 2006. While at Edinboro University, she studied metals under Sue Amendolora and Cappy Counard. She enrolled at CSU in 2007 to begin working on her master's degree in metalsmithing. After graduation, she hopes to continue to educate students in the field of metalsmithing.
