Dr. William W. Doe

Dr. William (Bill) Doe has taught a broad range of courses in physical and cultural/regional geography, water resources, land use planning and environmental studies for the U.S. Military Academy (West Point, NY), Western Illinois University, and Penn State University. He is a military and environmental geographer with research and applied expertise in military lands management, watershed management and modeling, ecosystem characterization and sustainability practices for universities and federal installations.

Dr. Doe is currently the Associate Dean for Research in the Warner College of Natural Resources at CSU, and previously was a senior research scientist/scholar with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) at CSU. He holds joint faculty appointments at CSU in the Department of Forest, Range and Watershed Stewardship (FRWS) and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE).

Prior to arriving at CSU in 1996 he served on active duty for 22 years as an Army Corps of Engineers officer with experience in disaster response, civil works and state/federal agency interactions. While on active duty, he held an appointment as Academy Professor and Program Director of Geography and Environmental Studies at the U.S. Military Academy.

Doe is an active member of the Association of American Geographers (AAG) and serves as a Board member for the Military Geography Specialty Group. He received his undergraduate degree from the U.S. Military Academy and advanced degrees from the University of New Hampshire and Colorado State University.

Dr. James Zeidler

Dr. James Zeidler is a research scientist and registered professional archaeologist. As Associate Director for Cultural Resources for the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) at Colorado State University, Dr. Zeidler serves as the CEMML's chief cultural resources specialist. His responsibilities include the execution of cultural resources management (CRM) planning and technical support efforts for the Army and other DoD services. Areas of technical support include: planning level surveys, compliance inventories, and National Register eligibility assessments for historic and prehistoric archaeological resources and historic buildings/structures; Native American consultation; historic context studies; cultural resources data management and analysis; GIS/GPS support; predictive archaeological modeling; and the development of Integrated Cultural Resource Management Plans (ICRMPs).

Dr. Zeidler is also actively involved in applied scientific research in the areas of archaeological resource management, predictive modeling, and geoarchaeology. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in CSU's Department of Anthropology.
