Certificate Requirements and Curriculum
Requirements
You do not need to have completed any specific coursework or had previous experience to complete this certificate. You also do not have to be admitted to CSU in order to take courses or complete the program. You can transfer previously taken courses for the certificate program as long as they meet the transfer criteria.
In order to receive the certificate, simply register for and complete each class satisfactorily. After completing the final course in the certificate, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from Colorado State.
Curriculum
This certificate program is highly flexible and allows you to fit the courses into your schedule. You are able to complete the required courses in the order that best suits your needs.
Coursework explores key areas such as management and administration, public policy and emergency management. To earn this FESA certificate you must complete the four required courses plus an additional elective course of your choice for a total of 15 credits. You are able to repeat courses if necessary, and you do not need to take summer courses in this program. View the semesters each course is offered by clicking on the specific course link below.

The Learning Experience
Although this certificate offers flexibility, it still requires the same amount of work and time as an on-campus program. It is recommended to spend nine to twelve hours per week on a three credit course. This will vary depending on your learning and studying style.
Your interactions with the faculty depend on the specific course, but online courses do provide you with online office hours, email contact information as well as discussion board postings. You will also collaborate on projects and exchange ideas with fellow classmates through these same tools.
Certificate at a Glance
Delivery
DVD and Online. Courses use a combination of DVD lectures supported by online resources. On-campus attendance is not required.

Tuition
$280 per credit. All courses require the purchase of textbooks. Some courses require the purchase of a DVD lecture set.
Time Frame
Can be completed in three semesters. Completion of certificate varies based on the number of credits completed each semester.

What You Will Earn
Upon completion of this series of courses with passing grades, you earn a Certificate of Completion. Individual courses, but not the certificate, will appear on your official University transcript.
