Finance Certificate

Finance Certificate

Certificate Overview

The Finance Certificate is designed for individuals who have a professional or personal interest to gain a broader knowledge in advanced corporate finance, international finance, and financial institutions and credit markets. With seminar-style courses that are offered pass or fail, this certificate is an ideal complement to the MBA degree programs or for students seeking to establish finance as an area of specialty.

The certificate courses, taught by the School of Business Department of Finance professors, are designed to provide industry specific knowledge. It is not designed as a primer or introductory course grouping. With this education, you are prepared with industry-specific knowledge relevant to conducting business in various financial environments.

Certificate Requirements

You are not required to be admitted to Colorado State to complete this certificate. This certificate requires successful completion of BUS 641 (Financial Markets and Investments) from the MBA curriculum or an equivalent graduate course or industry-specific experience. Finance, accounting, and banking professionals or others with industry-specific experience are asked to contact Matt Leland (information listed on the left of this page) to discuss your experience level in these areas to determine eligibility to enroll in the classes.

Certificate Curriculum

Studies will build on the MBA finance material as well as industry skill sets and knowledge. Classes will be symposium or seminar style with an emphasis on discussions and engagement with other students on those financial issues facing businesses today.
