Study: The Comparative Effectiveness of Web-Based and Classroom Instruction
Posted Monday, October 5, 2009
Dr. Kurt Kraiger, co-director of the Industrial and Organizational Psychology Master's Degree, co-published a study comparing the effectiveness of web-based courses versus traditional classroom courses.
One finding of the study was that students learned more in web-based courses than classroom formats. Dr. Kraiger believes that this may be because either students are self-selecting into it or the courses have been redesigned to be better than the original.
Another finding was that in true experimental tests there were no differences in the amount learned from online courses versus what was learned in the traditional format.
