Can I take courses through Continuing Education if I am an on-campus student?
Yes, any course offered through Continuing Education is available to on-campus students. Continuing Education courses will be recorded on your transcript with no differentiation from your on-campus courses.
Are online/distance courses like my on-campus courses?
Yes. These courses are similar to your on-campus courses in that they do carry the same credits as regular on-campus courses. This means that you will need to spend the same amount of time and effort to achieve a satisfactory grade. These courses also show up on your transcript with no differentiation from the courses that you attended on campus. The only difference is that you will not be required to be on campus to complete your course.
Do I have to wait for a certain registration time to register like I do with my on-campus courses?
No, there is no registration time distinction based on class level like registration for on–campus courses. You can register for Continuing Education courses as soon as they are open with seats available on a first-come, first-serve basis. See our Important Dates for registration dates.
Will these courses be included in my on-campus tuition? Will these courses be counted towards my 18 credits/semester limit?
No, tuition and course fees assessed for Continuing Education courses are in addition to any tuition and fees assessed for on-campus courses and will not be counted towards your 18 credits/semester limit.
Does my financial aid apply to Continuing Education courses?
Yes. All of Continuing Education's credit courses qualify for federal financial aid. Some scholarships available to on-campus students only may also be applied to courses offered through Continuing Education.
However, financial aid offered through the Colorado Opportunity Fund (COF) cannot be applied to Continuing Education courses.
How do I pay for Continuing Education courses if I already get a bill from CSU?
Credit courses taken through Continuing Education will be billed to your student account just like your on-campus courses. You will continue to receive only one bill from CSU.
Can I talk to my advisor about Continuing Education courses? Will he/she know what I'm talking about?
Yes, we encourage you to talk to your advisor about Continuing Education courses and how they will fit in with your schedule and program of study. All Colorado State University advisors are aware of the courses offered through Continuing Education and can help you determine if our courses are right for you.
Do Continuing Education courses satisfy course requirements for on-campus degree programs?
Yes, our courses carry the same academic credit as courses on campus and can be used to fulfill your course requirements. For more information on specific courses that you can take to complete your degree program, please contact your advisor.
Why can't I register for Continuing Education courses on RamWeb? Why do I have to have a separate account with you?
Registration for courses offered through Continuing Education is not available through RamWeb because you do not have to be admitted to register for our courses, which means many of our students do not have a CSUID (or eID) prior to needing to register for courses. In addition, we offer courses that are not available to on-campus students.
